Latest announcement of MTF grants will fund three Allegheny County multimodal transportation projects
Gov. Shapiro has announced 50 highway, bridge, aviation, port, bike, and pedestrian projects across 27 counties in PA selected to receive $54M in funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).
 
In Allegheny County, three projects will receive a portion of the latest MTF including $3M to renovate the Blvd of the Allies downtown, $739k to improve lane use control systems in the North Shore, and $231k to replace streets lights in Versailles Borough.
 
PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of MTF grant funding (available in summer 2027) at 8am on September 14 which will be due by 4pm on October 30. In 2023-24, the MTF provided funding for traffic signal upgrades on Liberty Ave at the Bloomfield Bridge, for example, and in 2022-23, the MTF provided funding to reopen Sylvan Avenue to pedestrian and bicycle traffic as a public trail better connecting Hazelwood and Greenfield to job centers in Oakland.
