Pennsylvania public transportation projects receive more than $617.5 million in federal funding

Through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently awarded transportation projects in Pennsylvania more than $617.5 million through multiple FTA grants including Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities, the Rural Area Formula, the State of Good Repair Formula Program, the Urbanized Area Formula Program, and state safety oversight.

Funding will allow projects in both urban and rural areas to conduct infrastructure upgrades and improve access to transit for seniors and people with disabilities. The largest grant awards include $446.4 million to the city of Philadelphia, $84.9 million to Pittsburgh, and $25.06 million to Lancaster. Pennsylvania communities also are eligible to compete for $1.75 billion in grants through the All Station Accessibility Program.
