OTMA is among more than 150 non-profit
transportation management associations throughout the
United States. Recognizing the serious consequences
that today's commuting environment has on our economic
vitality, productivity and quality of life, OTMA is
committed to promoting alternative transportation options
that will aid in reducing traffic congestion and improved
air quality.
OTMA is a membership organization that
receives funding through the Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) and the University of Pittsburgh.
Our membership is open to institutions, businesses,
non-profit community organizations, local government
agencies and regional transportation planners and providers.
The Oakland Transportation Management
Association (OTMA) along with fellow regional TMA's,
the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and Airport Corridor
Transportation Association, are working in conjunction
to respond to the transportation issues within our immediate
communities as well as regional transportation needs
throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. Each organization's
work program has evolved and includes:
Marketing of Public Transportation
(grassroots to commuters)
Dissemination of Information on Road Construction Projects
Organizing groups of Business Leaders for input on Transportation
Issues
Surveying Businesses on Transportation Needs
Conducting Focus Groups on Transportation
Promoting Alternatives of Van Pools and Car Pools vs.
(SOV)-Single Occupancy
Vehicle Travel
Working with Job Access issues
Providing Networking Opportunities for Local Businesses
& Transportation Officials
Ultimately, the Oakland Transportation
Management Association's role is to communicate the
public sector position, while bringing the message of
the community back to the transportation decision-makers
in the public sector.
